Muskogee Police officer shot in the leg during gunfire exchange with domestic disturbance suspect

Update – The Muskogee Police Department has identified the suspect in yesterday’s shooting as Lee Woods Sr. MPD says Woods remains hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Woods will be charged with Domestic Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Shooting with Intent to Kill once he is medically cleared.

Original – The Muskogee Police Department said one of its officers was shot in the leg after responding to a domestic disturbance. MPD says its officers responded to the 900 block of North M Street for a domestic disturbance.

The officers were informed that a male was armed with a gun. Authorities say the suspect was observed with a pistol and shots were exchanged. The suspect was struck before retreating back into the residence.

MPD says the suspect was convinced to leave the house and transported to a hospital in Tulsa. One officer suffered a gunshot wound to the leg and received treatment at St. Francis in Muskogee.

All three involved officers were placed on administrative leave, according to MPD.
