Parent charged following altercation with child’s teacher at Tyner Middle School

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office has announced charges against the parent of a student at Tyner Middle School following an altercation with the child’s teacher.

According to HCSO, the School Resource Deputy was requested to respond to the front lobby for a fight around 2:10 p.m. on Tuesday. HCSO says the deputy found two adult males involved in a physical altercation and called for additional resources.

Authorities say it was later determined that the altercation involved the parent of a student at the school and the child’s teacher. The deputy learned that the parent came to the school to confront the teacher about comments he allegedly made about his child’s hair and appearance, according to HCSO.

Police say the parent, Jeremy Mitchell, suffered a cut that required treatment at a medical facility. Police also allege that a small amount of suspected narcotics was found on his person. Mitchell allegedly told the deputy that it was Fentanyl.

HCSO says Mitchell will be charged with Assault and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
