Butte County Sheriff’s Office arrests juvenile for manslaughter of 50-year-old Robert Etta

The Butte County Sheriff’s Office reports that a juvenile has been arrested for the manslaughter of 50-year-old Robert Etta.

According to BCSO,  dispatch received a 911 call from the victim, Robert Etta, stating his truck had been stolen in the area of Crescent Drive and he was in the back of the truck.

The dispatcher remained on the line with Etta as Deputies and California Highway Patrol officers responded to the area. The dispatcher heard a vehicle collision.

BCSO says deputies found the truck on Carnegie Road, Magalia. Authorities confirm the truck was involved in a collision and the truck caught fire.

The fire spread to nearby vegetation. Etta was pronounced deceased at the scene. Authorities say the truck was stolen by a juvenile. Etta attempted to intervene by jumping into the back of the truck.

The juvenile, who was also injured during the collision, was taken to an area hospital for treatment. After being released, the juvenile was booked into the Butte County Juvenile Hall for manslaughter.
