The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man following a crime spree that crossed county lines and left numerous victims. According to Sheriff Dave Marshak, 33-year-old Jonathon Lyles of St. Louis was arrested.
Lyles is charged with one count of Assault 1st Degree or Attempt, one count of Armed Criminal Action, one count of Burglary 1st Degree, two counts of Stealing, one count of Tampering with a Motor Vehicle 1st Degree, two counts of Resisting Arrest by Fleeing – Causing a Substantial Risk of Serious Injury or Death, and two counts of Assault 4th Degree.
Authorities say deputies were alerted to an armed robbery that occurred inside the Arnold City limits around 7:38 a.m. on December 8, 2024. Sheriff Marshak reports that the suspect vehicle, a Porsche Boxster, was reported stolen from inside St. Louis city limits and was reportedly being driven by Lyles.
The vehicle was spotted a short time later by a deputy who attempted a traffic stop. The driver reportedly refused to stop leading to a pursuit. During the pursuit, Lyle allegedly tried to ram multiple patrol vehicles and a deputy who was trying to deploy stop sticks.
Deputies ended the pursuit when the suspect vehicle was driving the wrong way on Highway 67. The vehicle was later spotted by Ste. Genevieve County deputies who gave chase. Authorities say Lyles again tried to ram law enforcement vehicles and was spotted driving the wrong way on Northbound I-55.
The suspect vehicle was later found abandoned in the Hawthorne Hills neighborhood south of Festus, according to authorities. It is alleged that Lyles entered a home in the 1200 block of Hawthorne Hills and demanded money, car keys, and a cell phone from the female victim inside.
Lyle allegedly stole the victim’s Toyota Camry. After being spotted by law enforcement, Lyles allegedly collided with two Missouri State Highway Patrol cruisers. Police say the vehicle became stuck leading to Lyles’s apprehension.
Lyles is currently being held at the Jefferson County Jail without bond.
