Update – ACSO says the suspect was armed with an axe or a similar weapon when he approached deputies. Deputies reportedly gave several verbal commands for the man to “drop the axe” as he approached them, according to ACSO.
Original – The Adams County Sheriff’s Office reports that the 17th Judicial District Critical Incident Team is investigating an officer-involved shooting in the 7600 block of Health Pl.
According to ACSO, deputies responded to a residence for a welfare check at 4:42 p.m. At the scene, deputies were in contact with an adult male for several minutes.
Around 5:20 p.m., deputies told dispatch that shots were fired. ACSO says the adult male was transported to an area hospital to be treated for injuries.
The man’s status is not known at this time. Authorities say the investigation is early and ongoing. No deputies were injured during the incident.
