Two suspects arrested in connection to fatal shooting of 16-year-old in Weldon Projects

The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrests of two men in connection to a murder in the Weldon Projects on Spurce Court. Around 8:30 p.m. on September 5, 2024, HCSO received a report of a shooting at the aforementioned location.

At the scene, authorities found a 16-year-old boy deceased from a single gunshot wound. The Halifax Regional Drug and Gang Task Force and the Criminal Investigations Division initiated an investigation.

HCSO reports that 21-year-old Nas’zier Equon Lamar Grant was arrested in Greensboro and charged with murder. Grant was transported to Halifax County. Grant is charged with First Degree Murder, Attempted First Degree Murder, and Possession of a Weapon of Mass Destruction.

Authorities have also charged 24-year-old Keyshun Boswell with First Degree Murder, Attempted First Degree Murder, Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon, and Possession of a Weapon of Mass Destruction.

Boswell turned himself in at the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office. Family members encouraged Boswell to turn himself in and were present at the time of his arrest, according to HCSO.
