Student fatally shot while returning home in Columbus Georgia

Update 1 – Columbus Police have identified the victim of today’s fatal shooting on Watkins Drive. CPD reports that its officers responded to the 2300 block of Watkins Drive just before 4:30 p.m. on September 19 in reference to a shooting.

At the scene, officers found 15-year-old Earkavion Lee suffering from a gunshot wound in the street. The victim was transported to Piedmont Columbus Regional where he succumbed to his injuries.

CPD’s Violent Crimes Unit has assumed control of the investigation.
