The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office says it has arrested a suspect in connection to a murder in Tampa on December 9, 2024. According to HCSO, the Communications Center received a call from a male subject who made comments regarding his mental health around 8:22 a.m.

Authorities say deputies responded to the subject’s residence in the 8000 block of Beaty Grove Drive in Tampa and found a deceased female inside. In an update, HCSO said that 36-year-old Russell Antonio Moore allegedly made threatening statements about his mother, 54-year-old Shambray Lavern Levy, during an interview with deputies.

Deputies found Levy deceased inside the residence with trauma to her upper body, according to HCSO. Moore was arrested and charged with Murder in the First Degree (Premeditated) and Tampering with Physical Evidence Relating to a Capital Felony.
