Santa Fe Police arrested a 21-year-old man in connection to a brutal attack outside Sangre De Cristo Apartments on November 28, 2023. CCTV footage showed a vehicle driven by Jonathan Casteneda arriving and leaving the parking lot of 1801 Espinacitas Street several times before the 19-year-old female victim arrived home.

Casteneda struck the victim walking through the parking lot with his vehicle before fleeing the scene. The victim was airlifted to an area hospital. According to a social media post, the victim has been released from the hospital and is recovering at home.

Casteneda confessed to carrying out the brutal attack during an interview with detectives. The motive is still unclear.

Santa Fe Police Department detectives arrested Jonathan Casteneda on November 28, 2023. Casteneda has been charged with attempt to commit a felony, to wit: murder, and remanded to the Santa Fe County Adult Detention Center.
