According to a Boston Police Department news release, a 14-year-old was arrested with a loaded firearm. Around 2:06 PM on November 28, 2023, officers with the School Police Unit and District C-6 responded to the area of 215 Dorchester Street for a report of a found weapon. School staff told officers that they became aware that a student may be in possession of a firearm. The address is the UP Academy.
Authorities say staff took the student out of class and recovered a firearm from the student’s backpack. Boston Police was called to take custody of the firearm which was determined to be fully loaded. Authorities confirm the 14-year-old juvenile male was arrested and charged with delinquent to wit unlawful possession of a firearm, delinquent to wit unlawful possession of ammunition, and delinquent to wit unlawful possession of a firearm on school grounds.
BPD said the juvenile is expected to be arraigned in Boston Juvenile Court.
