Ithaca City Police and New York State Police have obtained and served a total of 13 arrest warrants in connection with the kidnapping and murder of a 33-year-old Ithaca man. On May 20, 2023, Thomas P. Rath was living in the “Jungle” encampment behind the Ithaca Lowes when an unidentified individual(s) forcibly abducted him.
Investigators executive a search warrant on May 31, at 70 Benjamin Hill Road in Newfield after new evidence put Rath there on May 20. The surrounding area was searched by law enforcement and Tompkins and Tioga Rescue teams on June 2.
Authorities executed 40 search warrants at multiple locations before Rath’s remains were found on June 2, in a shallow grave off Ekroos Road in Candor. As of August 16, investigators have executed 13 search warrants for the kidnapping and murder of Thomas Rath.

39-year-old Jack J. Benjamin Jr. of Ithaca, New York
36-year-old Justin M. Knapp of Ithaca, New York
39-year-old Kysha S. Radcliff of Lansing, New York

31-year-old Jonathan Glennon of Ithaca, New York
First- and second-degree murder and first-degree kidnapping (A-I felonies)
Glennon has been temporarily remanded at Androscoggin Jail in Maine.
31-year-old Colleen F. Dillon of Newfield, New York
First- and second-degree murder and first-degree kidnapping (A-I felonies)
37-year-old Joseph M. Howell of Newfield, New York
First- and second-degree murder and first-degree kidnapping (A-I felonies)
Howell is facing three counts of intimidating a witness (class E felony)
48-year-old Angelo Baez of Ithaca, New York
Second-degree murder and first-degree kidnapping (A-I felonies)
41-year-old David C. Maycumber of Newfield, New York
First- and second-degree murder and first-degree kidnapping (A-felonies)
Maycumber was also charged with intimidating a witness (class E felony)
